Laptop Padlock
I bought a laptop at an auction. It turns on but displays a padlock and that is all I can do with it – HELP!?
Is there something I can do for this team too old to do more than show the lock? This is an IBM Thinkpad 380ED. What does the padlock mean? Thanks for all the answers.
This means that the system is "locked" by a password in the BIOS. There is a CMOS clearing tool available from IBM. visit www.ibm.com, use the search bar and enter the type of machine. There will be a kind of machine on a label somewhere on the bottom or the back of the machine of its 4 numbers, a dash and 3 letters. For example, one is NetVista 6790-HHU.
